Is this a low blood sugar reading?
I ate a grilled cheese with tomato at 4:30 and a banana with peanut butter at 7:30ish. I then walked on the treadmill for 20 minutes and did 10 minutes of pilates, and 10 minutes of stretching and ab work. I tested my sugar at around 9:15 and it was 77 mg/dl. (I use the Bayer ascensia meter.) Do you think this is low? I am a 33 yr old female. I am not diabetic and not on any medications. I fear that I am suffering from hyploglycemia and terrified that I am going to pass out or go into a coma and die. I am considering going to an endocrinologist. thanks
For a diabetic that is borderline but still good, but since you have a functioning pancreas, it can release the hormone glucagon that stimulates the liver to release some of its sugar reserves, thus raising your blood glucose before it gets dangerously low.
Also, it takes very low blood glucose in order to pass out. I have been as low as 26 mg/dl and have never passed out.
