Glucometer test strips: Recycle?
I want to know how to recycle a glucometer (OneTouch Ultra / Horizon) test strip after it has been used once. After the recycle, the strips should come out as at most reasonably reliable. Does washing / dipping in water and or alcohol work?
Test strips are made from enzymes which react with the blood glucose and the reaction is measured by your glucometer. This reaction is irreversible and so you cannot reuse/ recycle a test strip. However you can get strips which are very economical . They are almost 50% lesser than imported ones and designed for Indian conditions and made in India. Its a Brand called Glucosmile.
