ewww! There's white cottage cheese in my sinuses?
I'm 19 years old and I have been dealing with chronic and acute sinusitis for 4 years now. After the use of countless antibiotics, decongestants, and flushing methods I found something I think is actually working amazingly. I bought the Sinupulse Elite, which is supposed to remedy sinus congestion and infection completely through daily use. Every user on the internet swore by it so I went out and got one.
However, I am freaked out by the stuff it is flushing out of my sinuses. I started using the SinuPulse last night, and I am getting this white, congealed substance out of my nostrils. It looks like cottage cheese. It is really gross and I just want to make sure that it is congealed mucus and not some other condition besides sinusitis.
Sometimes when you're on antibiotics for a long time, yeast infections can occur anywhere it is moist and dark, like your sinuses. Taking antibiotics for an extended period kills all the good bacteria in your system that normally keeps these natural yeasts in check, and when those bacteria are gone it gives a chance for the yeast to grow.
I would save a sample of the stuff and take it to your doctor and have them test it for yeasts. There are fungicidal medications they can give you to eradicate yeast infections. In addition, you might try upping your intake of probiotics. Yogurt with live cultures and acidophilus pills will help the good bacteria come back and keep these yeasts in check.
