How to transport a Honda CBR in a van?
I need some tips as far as how to transport my CBR in a van.
My plan is after I ramp the bike up the van, I would tie it down using ropes.
Should I put it bike in gear? should I warp the front break, so it is breaking the front wheel in the trip? Should I put the sidestand down?
What should I be careful of when I am going on this trip?
How long should I ramp be when the distance between the ground and the bottom of the van is 25"? and why?
Also, can I put the bike in gear and ramp it up with two people?
Or rolling it up would be safer?
Make sure you have help getting it in the van so you don't drop it.
You need to have 4 tie-down points in the van, one at each corner of the bike. The two front point should be forward of the front tire so it pulls the bike forward, the rear points should be behind the bike. Leave the bike in gear and leave the side stand down (just in case) but tie it down so it's upright. Best to use a canyon dancer which goes over the handlebars to tie from (avoids faring damage) and then attach to rear pegs for your back tie downs.
When you're done you should be able to shake on the bike and have the van move, not the bike. It should be that tight.
